Werkha – ‘Lapwing’ [demo]

Okay, so this isn’t that new, it’s been on soundcloud for a while, but I was checking out some names I didn’t recognise on the Brownswood Bubblers 10 tracklisting and I came across Werkha of Manchester, England. So here’s some pretty fresh sax-fueled future garage sounds. Nice.

Ballet School – ‘Heartbeat Overdrive’

Ballet School are a Berlin-based trio whose first single, ‘Heartbeat Overdrive’, is released on Bella Union on August 19th. Echoing all things great about 80s pop, yet simultaneously maintaining a Sonic Youth-esque influenced undertone. For fans of lush guitars and distinctive vocals. Astral Pattern – ‘Faraway’

Astral Pattern, recently arisen from the ashes of former band S.C.U.M., in early 2013. Occasional glimmers of Kraftwerk influence combined with the dreamy vocals of Melissa makes for an interesting, synth heavy, listen. The above track is taken from their EP entitled Light Poems is released this week via 37 Adventures. Go get it here on vinyl, and here digitally. London-based DJ / producer / barrister Throwing Shade makes unique sounding minimal and chilled out electronic music which is at times rather ethereal. Scenic – ‘Shockwaves’

Today in Perth, West-coast Australia, Scenic release the first single from their forthcoming sophomore EP on Sydney-based label Future Classic. Blending disco beats and dreamy electro-pop, this quartet of teenagers have created a hip, yet beautiful, summer sound. Releasing this track via a label who “highly endorse dancing” is rather apt, as, if I weren’t sitting down writing this right now, I’d probably be dancing.
